Quilting...

This is the first quilt block I have ever made. I finished it tonight. Yes, there are some obvious (and not-so-obvious) mistakes. I have chosen to keep those for a variety of reasons (and no, it's not because I just don't feel like fixing them. I have already fixed several other mistakes in this block...I've gotten very good with the seam ripper).

I may choose, at a later date, to fix the mistakes...or I may not...Time will tell.

This block is the first of many...it is the beginning of a memorial quilt.

For those inquiring minds.... :)

The dogs in the pictures below are Tori, Oslo, Theo, Gracie and Jade. Tori is the dog in the very first picture who is looking back. The dog she is looking at is Oslo. Oslo is also the dog in the very bottom picture. Oslo is a rescue from Mexico and is a neighbor of Theo and Gracie's owners. Jade is owned by a friend of mine. Theo, Gracie and Jade are all related and come from the same breeder. All of the dogs are ridgebacks though Tori does not have the nifty little ridge...not that she cares! :) I have more pictures from our beach trip last week. I will do my best to post them soon! :)

On New Year's Day 2008...

Tori and I went to the Beach! We joined three of my friends and four of Tori's and went to one of the beaches in Galveston. It was so much fun watching 5 Big Brown Dogs running amok across the sand. Here are some pictures of our adventure.

Movies

So...I've been on a bit of a movie kick lately. Luckily, I've got a theater near me that offers first run movies at a decent price ($2.25 for matinées and $4.50 for evenings and matinées include all showings before 6pm). I've recently seen: Sweeney Todd, Enchanted, The Golden Compass and National Treasure: Book of Secrets. All of them were very good - though I am very glad I paid matinées price for National Treasure. It was a fun movie but not a lot of plot. However, if you love chase scenes, lots of action and random danger situations you would probably like this one. :)

I highly recommend the other three. Enchanted and Golden Compass are fun movies. They provide a nice relaxing few hours. Sweeney Todd is darker but is still very good. It is a Tim Burton film and stars Johnny Depp. This is probably the only scary type movie of Johnny Depp's that I have ever seen. It was excellent. It's not too gory and features Johnny Depp singing his own songs. Now, if you don't like musicals you probably won't like this one...Most of the dialogue is sung. This is one movie I will probably purchase - along with the soundtrack.

Coming up: Alvin and the Chipmunks and Water Horse. :)
